This Too Shall Pass
If Peter Gabriel is the God of randomness, OK Go is the Greek Pantheon. I admire all of their work, and I firmly believe that they are a superior force in modern music (the other two being Lorde and Johnathan Coulton).
There are actually two versions of this music video, and while I will address the Rube Goldberg machine at some point, I think I want to start with the marching band version.

The Song
This is a nice song. It's a song about how problems can get better. This is a song that a lot of people need. I always send the other version of this to my friends when they feel depressed. The great thing is the lyrics are attributable to anything. A break up, money problems, any problem ever this song can be attributed to.
The actual music isn't particularly technically impressive. It really isn't anything new. It isn't great but I'm not paying attention to the way this thing sounds, I want the lyrics, and even those I'm not really here for.
The Video
The song is the means through which the true art form is produced. Usually I commend videos for relation to lyrics and film, but this comparison never exists with OK Go. Their videos are always way the heck out of nowhere and they're always fun to watch.
With OK Go, you don't really listen to the song, you watch the video. The video is much more interesting and I believe that this style of video making is vastly superior to the Thikes and the Lady Gagas that only care about sex appeal. OK Go has set the example that all groups should follow, simply because it's more interesting to watch.
